It starts with a brief history. I am lucky enough to have learned flower design from an amazing collection of seasoned professionals, including at Flower School New York, at advanced workshops with Ariella Chezar and Laura Sita of Fig and Squill Floral Design and with apprenticeships at Elán Flowers in New York City, and CJ Matsumoto and Sons in Los Angeles. Before that, I worked in advertising, handling color and print production for a leading fashion firm and later, for a major entertainment company.
Underlying that history is a point of view. I am preoccupied with color, and form, how each relates and, most importantly, how they make us feel. Flowers focus our attention, sometimes without knowing it, to what is organic, present and of the moment. Flowers are about time and about place. My designs often include elements like herbs, fruits and unique foliage which compliment the perfect Mediterranean inspired Southern California table, the place where I live.
